Republic Day 2026: Ministry of Power to showcase ‘Prakash Ganga’ tableau on India’s energy transition

The Ministry of Power will showcase a tableau titled “Prakash Ganga: Powering an Aatmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat” at the Republic Day Parade on January 26, highlighting India’s transformation in the power sector and its growing leadership in clean and sustainable energy.

The tableau traces India’s journey from achieving universal electricity access to emerging as a global clean energy player. The theme, Prakash Ganga — meaning “River of Light” — symbolises the continuous and seamless flow of electricity across the country through the interconnected national power grid.

A key feature of the tableau is a robotic smart meter model flanked by wind turbine generators, representing the integration of digital technology, automation and smart solutions for efficient power management. The central section depicts the “Smart Power, Smarter Home” concept, showcasing rooftop solar installations and the government’s push to empower citizens as ‘prosumers’ — both producers and consumers of electricity.

A towering transmission structure underscores last-mile connectivity, while an electric vehicle charging station and an electric scooter highlight the power sector’s role in supporting clean mobility and a sustainable transport ecosystem. The rear section of the tableau showcases India’s renewable energy capabilities through representations of hydroelectric, wind and geothermal power, reflecting the country’s expanding clean energy footprint.

Another prominent element, marked “Switching on India”, symbolises advanced control and monitoring centres that ensure grid stability and uninterrupted power supply. Mounted on a structure resembling coiled electrical cables, the tableau also reflects the scale, strength and resilience of the national power grid that connects millions of households and industries.

Through the Republic Day presentation, the Ministry of Power aims to underline its commitment to providing reliable, affordable and sustainable electricity, while strengthening energy security and supporting economic growth in line with the vision of a developed India.
