Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday inaugurated the ‘WAVES Creators’ Corner’ at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, unveiling a dedicated innovation workspace aimed at demonstrating the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence in the AVGC-XR ecosystem.
The pavilion, launched on the second day of the summit in New Delhi, has been conceptualised as a fully operational, hands-on platform showcasing AI applications across Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality.
During the inauguration, Vaishnaw described the WAVES Creators’ Corner as a strategic extension of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s flagship initiatives, including WaveX, Waves Bazaar and the Create in India Challenges.
He conducted an extensive walkthrough of the pavilion, engaging with emerging entrepreneurs from the WaveX startup cohort and interacting with senior representatives from global technology and media companies such as Adobe, Netflix, Sony and Amazon.
The Minister emphasised that the initiative aligns with the government’s broader objective of strengthening India’s creative economy through cutting-edge technology and innovation.
In a major boost to India’s Media and Entertainment ecosystem, 51 AVGC-XR and Media Tech startups supported by WaveX are presenting AI-driven solutions and immersive technologies at the pavilion.
Vaishnaw interacted with several entrepreneurs, including winners of the Bhasha Setu and Kalaa Setu challenges, which aim to promote innovation in language technologies and digital arts.
The startups are demonstrating real-time applications of AI across content creation, gaming, immersive storytelling and automated media workflows, highlighting India’s growing capabilities in creative technology.
The Minister also participated in a fireside conversation with Shradha Sharma, founder of YourStory, at the Media Lounge.
During the session, Vaishnaw spoke about the transformative impact of AI on society and how emerging technologies are enabling talent from rural India to build globally competitive startups.
He noted that AI is democratising access to tools and opportunities, reducing entry barriers and fostering innovation beyond metropolitan centres.
The WAVES Creators’ Corner featured a range of advanced AI-driven experiences, including real-time game development and “prompt-to-cinema” live studios; an Agentic AI-powered newsroom developed by Amazon Web Services and BharatGen, enabling automated editorial workflows; real-time voice cloning and multilingual interaction tools by Sarvam AI; 270-degree AI film screenings curated by National Film Development Corporation; face and voice re-aging technology by Sony Research India; and marker-less motion capture solutions by Whistling Woods International using DSLR cameras or smartphones.
These innovations showcased how AI is reshaping content creation, production and distribution across the creative industries.
Vaishnaw also highlighted the role of the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) in integrating AI into creative education. He praised the institute’s efforts to equip students with skills aligned to rapidly evolving industry requirements, ensuring that India’s creative workforce remains future-ready.
The WAVES Creators’ Corner will continue to host expert dialogues, filmmaker masterclasses and technical sessions led by global industry leaders throughout the duration of the summit.
