The 10th meeting of the India-Israel Joint Working Group (JWG) on Counter Terrorism was held in New Delhi on Tuesday, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to deepening cooperation against terrorism in all its forms.
The Indian delegation was led by Dr. Vinod Bahade, Joint Secretary (Counter Terrorism) in the Ministry of External Affairs, while the Israeli side was headed by Nadav Eschar, Head of Bureau, Strategic Affairs Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of bilateral cooperation in countering terrorism, reflecting the spirit and breadth of the India-Israel Strategic Partnership.
The MEA said that both sides unequivocally and strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including cross-border terrorism and reaffirmed the principle of zero tolerance towards terrorism. They strongly condemned the brutal terror attacks in both countries including heinous October 7, 2023 terror attack in Israel, the dastardly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam India on April 22, 2025 and other terror acts that have emphasized the urgent need to hold the perpetrators of these heinous acts accountable.
The delegations emphasized that confronting terrorism requires sustained and comprehensive efforts. In this context, they renewed their commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts, including at the United Nations, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and other international platforms. Both sides reiterated their resolve to combat terrorist organisations and their proxies, supporters, sponsors, financiers and backers.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on evolving global and regional threats. The two sides reviewed traditional and emerging challenges such as terrorist recruitment, misuse of technology for terrorist purposes and terror financing. They expressed concern over the growing use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), drones and artificial intelligence by terrorist groups.
Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation through training, cybersecurity measures, sharing of best practices and intelligence, and strengthening law enforcement and judicial collaboration, including cooperation on mutual legal assistance requests.
Both countries agreed to hold the next meeting of the Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism in Israel at a mutually convenient date.
