PM Modi gave ‘excellent guidance’ to NDA MPs at Parliamentary meet: Rijiju

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided “excellent guidance” to NDA Members of Parliament during a Parliamentary Party meeting, urging them to continue grassroots-level work to sustain the coalition’s electoral momentum.

Rijiju said the Prime Minister guided NDA leaders on upcoming state elections and stressed that electoral success depends on consistent work on the ground and the implementation of sound policies.

He also said that NDA MPs congratulated the Prime Minister for a series of trade agreements signed with developed countries, which he said would benefit ordinary citizens.

The NDA Parliamentary Party met on Tuesday at the Parliament Library Building to deliberate on the Union Budget 2026 and the government’s broader vision for Viksit Bharat 2047. Senior leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, and other NDA ministers and MPs were present.

Addressing mediapersons after the meeting, Rijiju said the BJP formally welcomed its new national president during the session. He said discussions were held on what he described as historic trade agreements concluded under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

He referred to nine trade agreements, including free trade agreements, and noted that the India–EU Free Trade Agreement had been signed less than a week ago. Rijiju also cited the trade agreement concluded with the United States on Monday, saying it had generated widespread public interest.

India and the United States reached the agreement following a phone conversation between Prime Minister Modi and US President Donald Trump. This marked the second trade agreement concluded by India in the past ten days.

“These trade deals with 39 developed countries show that under the Prime Minister’s leadership, developed nations want to work with India in partnership. This will benefit the lives of common people,” Rijiju said, referring to agreements involving the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

Rijiju said the Prime Minister told NDA MPs that elections are not won “in the air” and emphasised the importance of sustained grassroots engagement. He said NDA governments, whether at the Centre, in states, or in local bodies, were delivering results.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister also criticised Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of disrupting House proceedings on Monday by raising the Ladakh standoff issue.

Rijiju said the discussion in the Rajya Sabha had been constructive, while proceedings in the Lok Sabha were disrupted after Gandhi quoted from a magazine article linked to an unpublished book by former Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane.

He said all members must adhere to parliamentary rules and procedures, adding that debates in the House should not be disrupted. Rijiju further alleged that several opposition MPs who wished to participate in discussions were denied the opportunity due to disruptions.
