Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday shared an article highlighting how Pariksha Pe Charcha has evolved into a mass movement (Jan Andolan), marking a decisive shift in India’s educational journey and contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Responding to a post by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on X, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that the article explains how Pariksha Pe Charcha has grown beyond an annual interaction to become a nationwide movement focused on students’ holistic well-being.
“In this article, Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan explains how Pariksha Pe Charcha has become a Jan Andolan, marking a decisive shift in Bharat’s educational journey and paving the way for Viksit Bharat. The Minister reiterates that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with its child-centric approach, focus on Indian knowledge systems, and emphasis on the mother tongue, prepares students for the challenges of the 21st century,” the PMO said.
Sharing the link to his article on X, Pradhan said that PM Modi’s conversational style during Pariksha Pe Charcha has helped students feel heard and understood, freeing young minds from fear and anxiety related to examinations. He noted that the initiative continues to reflect the child-centric philosophy of NEP 2020 and addresses modern-day challenges faced by learners.
In his article, Pradhan said that Pariksha Pe Charcha, launched in 2018 under PM Modi’s leadership, has organically evolved into a nationwide collective effort involving students, parents, and teachers as active stakeholders. He said the initiative places students’ holistic development and emotional well-being at the centre of the education system.
Highlighting the scale of engagement, the minister noted that this year’s edition has recorded over 4.5 crore registrations, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record. He described the unprecedented participation as a reflection of a collective national resolve to create an enabling and stress-free learning environment.
Pradhan attributed the initiative’s rapid expansion to PM Modi’s empathetic and pragmatic engagement with students on issues such as learning, examinations, and stress. Drawing from personal life experiences, the Prime Minister’s interactions, he said, help create a reassuring atmosphere for learners.
Pradhan’s article underscores the core principle that every child is unique and learns at their own pace. It stresses that examinations capture only a limited aspect of a child’s potential and that creativity, innovation, empathy, and critical thinking emerge through holistic development.
Pradhan said this philosophy lies at the heart of NEP 2020, which seeks to reshape pedagogy, curricula, and assessment systems to reduce anxiety and foster creativity, ethical values, emotional intelligence, and physical well-being. He highlighted initiatives such as play-based learning in early education, mother-tongue instruction at the foundational stage, multilingualism, and reforms in assessment, including conducting Class 10 board examinations twice a year.
His article also draws attention to challenges such as excessive digital consumption among children, calling for collective efforts by parents and educators to promote healthy screen habits and balanced lifestyles.
Pradhan said that achieving Viksit Bharat requires nurturing excellence across all fields by allowing children the freedom to discover and develop their unique strengths. He said Pariksha Pe Charcha embodies this vision by freeing young minds from fear and preparing confident, compassionate citizens for India@2047.
