Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday met Rolls-Royce CEO Tufan Erginbilgic and welcomed the company’s plans to scale up operations in India and engage with the country’s youth.
“It was wonderful meeting Mr. Tufan Erginbilgic, CEO of Rolls-Royce, earlier today. We welcome Rolls-Royce’s enthusiasm towards scaling up its activities in India and partnering with our innovative and dynamic youth,” PM Modi said in a post on X.
The remarks came in response to a post by Rolls-Royce India, which said its CEO met the Prime Minister to discuss the company’s plans to scale up operations in India as part of ‘Viksit Bharat.’
“Our CEO Tufan Erginbilgic met Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi today to discuss how Rolls-Royce is scaling up to be a part of Viksit Bharat, including expanding its GCC to be the largest globally, co-creating complex manufacturing and building high-value engineering capabilities,” the company said.
Last October, Rolls-Royce had participated in industry dialogues during UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s first official visit to India after the signing of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA).
Erginbilgic, who was part of the UK Prime Minister’s industry delegation, said Rolls-Royce aims to develop India as a home market.
“We have deep ambitions to develop India as a home for Rolls-Royce, building on our strong and successful partnership. Our competitively advantaged technologies across air, land, and sea applications position us to successfully build in-country capabilities and foster strategic partnerships that will accelerate India’s progress towards a Viksit Bharat,” he said.
“We are determined to be India’s partner on its Atmanirbhar journey, driving growth, promoting self-reliance, innovation, and a global presence in critical industries”, Erginbilgic added.
The company said its expertise in civil aviation, defence, and energy will help expand its presence and partnerships in India, supporting the country’s goals of self-reliance, energy independence, and advanced connectivity, including world-class AI infrastructure.
