Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tributes to Chandrashekhar Azad on his martyrdom day, recalling his supreme sacrifice for the nation and describing him as a brave son of Mother India.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “On the martyrdom day of Chandrashekhar Azad, the valiant son of Mother India, my respectful homage to him. He sacrificed everything to free Mother India from the shackles of slavery, for which he will be remembered forever.”
Reflecting on Azad’s enduring legacy, PM Modi said that the life of Chandrashekhar Azad teaches us that the resolve to stand firm against injustice is the true valor and the saga of his sacrifice for the motherland will continue to inspire every generation of the nation.
Born on July 23, 1906, in Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh, as Chandra Shekhar Sitaram Tiwari, Azad is remembered as one of the most fearless revolutionaries of India’s freedom struggle.
