SAIL records 16% growth in sales during April–January FY26

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) on Tuesday recorded its highest-ever cumulative sales during the April–January period of FY 2025–26, along with its best January sales performance, reflecting strong demand and improved operational efficiency.

According to official data, SAIL achieved total sales of 16.6 million tonnes (MT) during April–January FY26, marking a growth of 16 per cent compared to 14.3 MT in the corresponding period of the previous year. This is the highest cumulative sales figure recorded by the company for this period.

In January 2026 alone, SAIL registered its best-ever monthly sales of 1.84 MT, up from 1.68 MT in January last year, recording a growth of over 10 per cent. The higher sales volumes led to a reduction in inventory by 0.25 MT and a substantial decline in borrowings.

The company’s strong performance was reflected across multiple parameters, including sales, dispatches, cash collections and door-to-door customer deliveries. SAIL reported record dispatches from its plants, increased door delivery volumes and improved warehouse sales during the period.

Officials said the improved performance was driven by enhanced logistics efficiency, deeper market penetration and a sustained focus on customer-centric initiatives. The marketing vertical played a key role in strengthening distribution networks and improving service delivery.

By surpassing earlier benchmarks and meeting business plan targets, SAIL has continued to strengthen its operational position during FY26, the company said.
