Several global leaders and senior dignitaries have begun arriving in New Delhi to attend the India-AI Impact Summit 2026, currently under way at Bharat Mandapam.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) welcomed Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, President of Spain, on his arrival in the national capital. He was received at the airport by Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Jayant Chaudhary.
In a post on X, MEA said President Sánchez’s visit will add momentum to the ongoing India–Spain Dual Year of Culture, Tourism and AI, further strengthening bilateral engagement.
Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Sweden’s Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch, who also holds the portfolio of Minister for Energy, Business and Industry, arrived in New Delhi early Wednesday.
Welcoming Sweden’s Deputy Prime Minister, the MEA said India–Sweden relations span multiple areas including trade, economy, science, innovation, climate action, education and sustainable development.
In a separate post, the MEA extended a warm welcome to Finland’s Prime Minister, noting that his visit is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties with a focus on digital technologies, artificial intelligence, sustainability and education.
UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy arrived late Tuesday and was also accorded a warm reception. According to the MEA, his visit will help advance the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with an emphasis on trusted, inclusive and responsible AI as a driver of innovation, growth and shared prosperity.
The India-AI Impact Summit is examining the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in line with India’s guiding philosophy of “Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya”—welfare and happiness for all—and the global principle of AI for humanity.
The summit has drawn participation from over 110 countries, 30 international organisations, around 20 heads of state or government, and 45 ministers.
This is the fourth edition of the summit series, following earlier editions held at Bletchley Park in the UK in 2023, South Korea in 2024, and France in 2025.
