Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday emphasised the importance of experiential learning and continuous practice in education during the 132nd edition of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat.
Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister cited a traditional saying to underline the value of consistent effort in gaining knowledge, noting that active participation significantly enhances learning outcomes.
PM Modi highlighted a unique initiative from Bengaluru, where the Prayog Institute of Education Research is working to promote science education among school students. He said the institute focuses on research-oriented learning and has introduced an initiative called “Anveshan”.
The programme offers students from Classes 9 to 12 opportunities to engage in innovation across disciplines such as chemistry, earth science, and wellness. According to the Prime Minister, it provides valuable research exposure and even enables students to publish their projects.
Referring to interactions during Pareeksha Pe Charcha, PM Modi noted that many students feel intimidated by science as a subject. He said initiatives like Anveshan help address this challenge by encouraging practical engagement, which in turn fosters curiosity and interest.
Praising the efforts of the Prayog team, the Prime Minister said such initiatives play a crucial role in nurturing scientific temper among young minds. He expressed optimism that hands-on learning experiences could inspire students to pursue careers in science, adding that some participants may go on to become leading scientists in the future.
