Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi urges focus on fitness, promotes yoga and healthy living

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called on citizens to prioritise fitness and adopt healthier lifestyles during the 132nd edition of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat.

Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of physical well-being and noted that less than 100 days remain for International Day of Yoga. He highlighted the growing global interest in yoga and praised individuals working to promote it internationally, citing efforts in countries like Djibouti where yoga is being actively taught and practised.

PM Modi also referred to a recent social media interaction involving content creator Yuvraj Dua, where he had encouraged reducing sugar intake. He expressed satisfaction that the message had a positive impact and used the example to urge citizens to adopt similar healthy habits.

Emphasising preventive healthcare, the Prime Minister advised people to reduce sugar consumption and cut down cooking oil usage by at least 10 percent. He said such small lifestyle changes can play a crucial role in preventing obesity and other lifestyle-related diseases.

Highlighting the link between fitness and overall well-being, PM Modi encouraged citizens to take proactive steps towards maintaining a healthy routine, stressing that collective efforts in this direction would contribute to a healthier nation.
