Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday reflected on the spiritual essence of Navratri, highlighting the deep sense of peace, devotion, and inner strength derived from the worship of the Mother Goddess.
Extending his wishes on the fifth day of the festival, dedicated to Goddess Skandamata, the Prime Minister offered prayers for the well-being and prosperity of all citizens. In a post on X, he said, “Heartfelt prayer to Maa Skandamata! May she, with her compassionate affection and blessings, illuminate everyone’s life.”
Emphasising the spiritual significance of devotion, he noted that worshipping Maa Ambe brings profound joy and grants the mind boundless peace and spiritual strength. He also shared a Sanskrit subhashitam praising the divine grace of Skandamata, describing her as seated on a lion and holding lotus flowers, and invoked her blessings for auspicious outcomes.
As part of his message, the Prime Minister shared a devotional hymn, “Chottanikkara Amme Jagathambike,” sung by Ganesh Sundaram, celebrating the divine presence of the Goddess.
Marking the occasion, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath also extended greetings, praying that the maternal affection of Skandamata brings prosperity, peace, and happiness across the world.
Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta also conveyed her wishes, describing the Goddess as a symbol of compassion and tenderness who inspires harmony, wisdom, and social upliftment.
Navratri, meaning “nine nights,” is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga and her nine forms, collectively known as Navdurga. The fifth day honours Skandamata, revered as the mother of Kartikeya, and symbolises motherhood, compassion, and the power to guide devotees toward spiritual and material well-being.
The festival is celebrated with great devotion across India, with rituals and prayers performed to seek the blessings of the Goddess for peace, prosperity, and harmony.
