Argentina envoy | Pahalgam attack anniversary

Argentina envoy expresses solidarity with India on Pahalgam attack anniversary

Argentina’s ambassador to India, Mariano Caucino, on Wednesday paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam attack on its first anniversary, reaffirming his country’s support for India and condemning terrorism in all its forms.

In a post on X, Caucino said: “One year since the tragedy of the Pahalgam terror attack against India. On behalf of the Argentine government and the Argentine people, we convey our tribute to those innocent people lost on this day last year. They shall never be forgotten. Our thoughts are with their families and loved ones. Standing with India and condemning terror in all its forms.”

The attack, carried out on April 22, 2025, by The Resistance Front — an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba — saw terrorists open fire on tourists after identifying their religion, in one of the most brutal civilian-targeted incidents in recent years.

Among those killed were 25 tourists and a local pony ride operator who attempted to save them.

In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of May 6–7, 2025. The well-coordinated strikes carried out by the Indian Armed Forces precisely hit nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), killing over 100 terrorists, their trainers, handlers, and associates. Most of the terrorists belonged to organisations such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. The operation inflicted maximum damage on terrorist infrastructure while minimising harm to the civilian population.
