Indian Army to host 11 nations for multilateral exercise ‘Pragati’ in Meghalaya

The Indian Army is set to host military delegations from 11 friendly countries for the inaugural edition of the multilateral exercise ‘Pragati’ at the Foreign Training Node in Umroi, Meghalaya.

The exercise aims to strengthen defence cooperation, enhance interoperability, and build mutual trust among participating nations. According to the Indian Army, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to collective security and regional stability.

In a post on X, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) said that the exercise underscores the importance of collaboration among regional forces. ‘Pragati’ – an acronym for Partnership of Regional Armies for Growth and Transformation in the Indian Ocean Region – symbolises efforts toward cooperative growth and security.

Meanwhile, Chief of the Army Staff Upendra Dwivedi visited his alma mater, Sainik School Rewa on Tuesday. The visit marked a moment of pride and nostalgia as he returned to the institution that played a key role in shaping his military career.

During the visit, General Dwivedi laid a wreath at the school memorial and reviewed a Guard of Honour presented by the cadets. He also interacted with students and faculty, commending them for upholding the institution’s traditions of discipline and excellence.

Addressing the cadets, he encouraged them to lead with integrity, serve with dedication, and remain committed to the nation. His visit highlighted the enduring legacy of Sainik Schools in nurturing future leaders of the armed forces.
