Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its sweeping victory in the Gujarat local body elections, saying the results have further strengthened the bond between the people of the state and the party.
In a post on X, PM Modi expressed gratitude to voters for delivering a decisive mandate across municipal corporations, municipalities and panchayats. “The bond between Gujarat and the BJP gets even stronger! Gratitude to the people of Gujarat for a sweeping mandate in the Mahanagarpalika, Nagarpalika, Taluka Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat elections held across the state,” he said.
The Prime Minister attributed the victory to the party’s focus on governance and development, stating, “The people have voted for politics of good governance, seeing the excellent work of the state Government. They have blessed the hardwork of the BJP over the years.”
The ruling BJP secured a clean sweep, winning all 15 municipal corporations in the state, including key cities such as Ahmedabad and Rajkot. The elections were held across 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats and 260 taluka panchayats.
Assuring continued efforts towards development, PM Modi said, “I assure the people of Gujarat that we will work even harder in the times to come and take Gujarat to newer heights of progress.”
He also praised party workers for their grassroots efforts, adding, “I would like to applaud the large family of Gujarat BJP Karyakartas for their efforts at the grassroots. They have always worked among the people and addressed their problems. This is why our Party has time and again been the preferred choice of Gujarat.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also hailed BJP’s clean sweep in Gujarat local body polls. In a post on X, HM Shah said, “The overwhelming mandate given to the BJP by the people in the local self-government elections of Gujarat is a clear indication that the people’s unwavering trust in the BJP for the service and development of the state remains firmly intact.”
“For the last 3 decades, the people of Gujarat have expressed their unbreakable faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and the BJP’s development model, from panchayats to Parliament. Crores of salutations to them for the continuous love and support of the people of Gujarat,” HM Shah added.
He also congratulated Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, state president Jagdish Vishwakarma, and all the dedicated workers of BJP “who made this splendid victory possible through their tireless efforts.”
