PM Modi pays tribute to Adi Shankaracharya on his Jayanti

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid homage to Adi Shankaracharya on his Jayanti, remembering him as one of India’s greatest spiritual luminaries whose teachings continue to inspire people worldwide.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “On the sacred occasion of Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti, paying homage to one of India’s greatest spiritual luminaries. His profound teachings, thoughts and philosophy of Advaita Vedanta continue to guide innumerable people globally.”

“He emphasised harmony, discipline and the oneness of all existence. His efforts to revitalise spiritual thought and establish spiritual centres across the nation remain a lasting inspiration. May his wisdom continue to illuminate our path and strengthen our commitment to truth, compassion and collective well-being,” PM Modi added.

Leaders from across the country also paid tribute to Adi Shankaracharya on the occasion. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath described Adi Shankaracharya as a pioneer who infused new consciousness into Indian culture, philosophy, and spiritual traditions, inspiring people to follow the path of truth, knowledge, and self-realisation.

Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta also offered her respects, highlighting his role in strengthening India’s spiritual heritage and spreading the message of unity. She noted that his life and teachings continue to inspire society to uphold values of truth, knowledge, and duty.

Adi Shankaracharya, regarded as one of the foremost philosophers of India, is credited with consolidating the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta and establishing monastic institutions across the country, leaving a profound and lasting impact on Indian spiritual and intellectual traditions.
