PM Modi to visit Uttarakhand, UP on April 14; inaugurate Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on April 14, where he will inaugurate the much-anticipated Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor and review key infrastructure and environmental initiatives.

As part of his visit, the Prime Minister will reach Saharanpur at around 11:15 AM to assess the wildlife corridor built along the elevated section of the expressway. He will then proceed to Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun at approximately 11:40 AM to perform darshan and pooja.

Later in the day, at around 12:30 PM, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor at a public event in Dehradun and address the gathering.

The 213-kilometre, six-lane access-controlled corridor – developed at a cost of over ₹12,000 crore – passes through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Once operational, it is expected to significantly cut travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from more than six hours to approximately two and a half hours, greatly enhancing regional connectivity.

The project features modern infrastructure, including 10 interchanges, three Railway Over Bridges (ROBs), four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities to facilitate seamless, high-speed travel. It is also equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), aimed at ensuring safer and more efficient commuting.

A key highlight of the corridor is its strong emphasis on environmental sustainability. Designed to minimize human-wildlife conflict in ecologically sensitive zones, the project incorporates several protective features. These include a 12-kilometre-long wildlife elevated corridor – among the longest in Asia – along with eight animal passes, two elephant underpasses measuring 200 metres each, and a 370-metre tunnel near the Daat Kali Temple.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor will play a pivotal role in strengthening regional economic growth by enhancing connectivity between major tourism and economic centres as well as opening new avenues for trade and development across the region. The project reflects the vision of PM Modi to develop next-generation infrastructure that combines high-speed connectivity with environmental sustainability and improved quality of life for citizens.
