Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended birthday greetings to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, lauding his leadership and crediting him for driving the state’s progress across sectors.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Best wishes to Andhra Pradesh’s hardworking Chief Minister and my good friend, Shri Chandrababu Naidu Garu. Under his leadership, Andhra Pradesh is scaling new heights of progress across all sectors. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life in service of the people.”
Naidu, a veteran politician with a career spanning several decades, is currently serving his fourth term as Chief Minister after taking oath in June 2024. He first assumed office in 1995 and led undivided Andhra Pradesh for nine consecutive years until 2004. He later returned to power in 2014 following the state’s bifurcation and again in 2024.
Beginning his political journey with the Indian Youth Congress in the 1970s, Naidu rose to prominence after joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), founded by N.T. Rama Rao. He took over the party leadership in 1995.
Often referred to as a “CEO Chief Minister” for his corporate-style governance, Naidu is widely credited with pushing economic reforms, promoting technology, and attracting investments. His tenure saw the transformation of Hyderabad into a major information technology hub, with growth in sectors such as IT, pharmaceuticals, and education earning him global recognition, including at platforms like the World Economic Forum.
