South Korean President Lee Jae Myung pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Monday paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, accompanied by First Lady Kim Hea Kyung, during his 3-day State Visit to India.

The South Korean President and the First Lady laid a wreath at the memorial, honouring Gandhi’s enduring ideals of peace and non-violence. In a message, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the gesture as a tribute to values that continue to inspire global harmony and a better world.

Earlier in the day, President Lee was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was received by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The reception featured traditional performances and a warm welcome by children waving the national flags of both countries.

President Lee arrived in New Delhi on Sunday for a three-day visit and was received at the airport by Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also called on the visiting leader, expressing confidence in further strengthening bilateral ties.

During his visit, President Lee is scheduled to hold extensive talks with PM Modi. The leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, with the Prime Minister hosting a lunch in honour of the visiting dignitary.

President Lee will also meet President Murmu, who will host a state banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
