Union Home Minister Amit Shah | Operation Sindoor

Amit Shah praises BSF for “befitting reply” to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday lauded the Border Security Force (BSF) for its role during Operation Sindoor, saying the force gave a “befitting reply to Pakistan” whenever required while maintaining high morale among residents in border areas.

Addressing BSF personnel during his visit to the Sanchu Border Outpost along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan’s Bikaner sector, Shah praised the force for standing firm against challenges during the operation.

“I would also like to highly praise the performance of BSF personnel during Operation Sindoor. Everywhere BSF took charge, they stood firm. BSF also made a huge contribution in maintaining the morale of the citizens of border districts, and wherever needed, BSF personnel also gave a befitting reply to Pakistan, which has always been your tradition,” Shah said.

Sanchu Border Outpost, located along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan’s Bikaner sector, holds historic significance in India’s military history and has long been regarded as a symbol of the country’s border defence resilience. Referring to the strategic importance of the post, Shah said the outpost is “inscribed in the history of Indian wars with golden letters” and described his visit there as a moment of pride.

Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, with Indian Armed Forces targeting terror infrastructure linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, the groups accused of planning and carrying out attacks in India.

According to officials, Indian Armed Forces struck nine terror targets, including four locations in Pakistan — Bahawalpur, Muridke and Sialkot among them — and five targets in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir using precision-guided munitions in a coordinated operation.

The operation was jointly carried out by the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force with coordinated mobilisation of troops and military assets.
