Centre releases ₹527 crore under NHM for West Bengal: JP Nadda

Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda on Saturday reviewed the healthcare systems and implementation of key health schemes in West Bengal during a virtual meeting with Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and senior officials.
 
The discussions focused on strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the state and improving the implementation of flagship programmes, including the National Health Mission (NHM), Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM).
 
During the meeting, the Union Health Minister assured full support and cooperation from the Centre for enhancing healthcare delivery and public health infrastructure in West Bengal.
 
The Centre also released Rs 527.58 crore as the first tranche under the National Health Mission allocation of Rs 3,505.59 crore earmarked for the state.
 
Key discussions were held on signing a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY in West Bengal, along with issues related to immunisation, maternal and child healthcare, disease prevention and quality healthcare services.
 
Nadda emphasised the need for effective implementation of the nationwide HPV vaccination drive and the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in the state with strong public participation.
 
The meeting also reviewed progress in strengthening health facilities and ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare services for citizens across urban and rural areas.
 
Both the Centre and the West Bengal government reaffirmed their commitment to collaborative efforts aimed at improving public health outcomes and expanding quality healthcare access in the state.
