India to host BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on May 14-15

India will host the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on May 14 and 15 under its chairship of the bloc, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Tuesday.

The meeting will be chaired by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and will see participation from foreign ministers and heads of delegation from BRICS member and partner countries. The delegates are also scheduled to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the visit.

According to the ministry, the foreign ministers of BRICS member nations will discuss global and regional issues of mutual interest during the two-day meeting. On the second day, member and partner countries will participate in a session titled “BRICS@20: Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.

Another session will focus on reforms of global governance and the multilateral system, amid growing calls from emerging economies for greater representation in international institutions.

The previous BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting was held on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025, where India participated as the incoming chair of the grouping for 2026.

BRICS currently comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and newly inducted member countries, and focuses on cooperation across economic, political and strategic issues among emerging economies.
