IPL 2026 | CSK vs DC | Sanju Samson

IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings cruise past Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets

Opening batter Sanju Samson starred with an unbeaten 87 as Chennai Super Kings outclassed Delhi Capitals by eight wickets in Match 48 of Indian Premier League 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.

Samson anchored the chase as Chennai Super Kings chased down 156 in 17.3 overs, finishing at 159/2 with 15 balls to spare. The win took them to 10 points – sixth on the points table.

Earlier, a disciplined bowling effort led by Noor Ahmad (2/22) and Akeal Hosein (1/19) restricted DC to 155/7 on a sluggish pitch that offered grip and turn. Contributions from Sameer Rizvi (40* off 27) and Tristan Stubbs (38 off 32) helped the hosts post a competitive total.

In reply, CSK began cautiously before Samson took control. Ruturaj Gaikwad fell early, while Urvil Patel added some impetus with two sixes before being dismissed by Axar Patel.

Samson then found solid support in Kartik Sharma, with the duo stitching together an unbeaten 114-run stand off just 66 balls. While Kartik played the perfect supporting role with a composed 41* off 31 balls, Samson shifted gears seamlessly, mixing elegant strokeplay with brute force.

He targeted the likes of Kuldeep Yadav and T Natarajan with calculated aggression, dispatching both spin and pace with equal ease. Samson reached his half-century in 32 balls and never looked back, finishing the chase in style as CSK cruised home.

DC’s bowling attack, featuring Mitchell Starc and Lungi Ngidi, failed to apply sustained pressure once the pitch eased out, allowing CSK to dominate proceedings in the latter half of the chase.

Brief scores:
Delhi Capitals 155/7 (Sameer Rizvi 40*, Tristan Stubbs 38; Noor Ahmad 2/22) lost to Chennai Super Kings 159/2 (Sanju Samson 87*, Kartik Sharma 41*) by eight wickets.
