Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing to visit India from May 30 to June 3

Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing will pay an official visit to India from May 30 to June 3 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday.

The visit comes after the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) Summit, which the Myanmar President was originally scheduled to attend on June 1, was deferred.

President Hlaing will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Cabinet ministers, senior officials, and business leaders. This will be his first visit to India in his current capacity as Myanmar President.

During his stay in New Delhi, President Hlaing will hold bilateral talks with PM Modi on June 1. The discussions are expected to focus on further strengthening the historical, cultural, and civilisational ties between India and Myanmar, along with enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors.

The Myanmar President will also participate in a business forum aimed at boosting economic and commercial engagement between the two countries.

As part of his itinerary, President Hlaing will visit Bodh Gaya on May 30 and Mumbai on June 2 for business and industry interactions as well as site visits.

The MEA said that Myanmar lies at the confluence of India’s “Neighborhood First”, “Act East” and “MAHASAGAR” policies and the visit is expected to further strengthen and deepen the multi-faceted relations between the two countries.
