New economy sectors opening vast opportunities for youth: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates under the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela and said India’s youth were playing a central role in accelerating the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Addressing the recruits through video conferencing, the Prime Minister said the Rozgar Mela reflected the government’s commitment to empowering the country’s youth with new opportunities across sectors.

“India’s youth are playing a vital role in accelerating the journey towards a Viksit Bharat,” PM Modi said, adding that the newly inducted candidates would contribute significantly in sectors such as railways, banking, defence, healthcare and education.

Congratulating the appointees and their families, the Prime Minister said every achievement was supported not only by families but also by society and the nation as a whole. He described the occasion as an important milestone in the lives of thousands of young people entering public service.

Referring to his recently concluded five-nation tour, PM Modi said leaders of global companies and governments across several countries had expressed strong confidence in India’s youth and technological capabilities.

“The world is immensely excited by India’s young demographic and technological progress. Today, the global community wants to partner in India’s developmental journey,” he said.

Highlighting the outcomes of the tour, the Prime Minister said India had strengthened partnerships with several countries in advanced technology, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, green energy and sustainable manufacturing.

He referred to the agreement between Dutch semiconductor equipment company ASML and Tata Electronics, calling it a major step for India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

“This single ASML–Tata Electronics agreement alone will create thousands of new employment opportunities in India,” he said, adding that India was emerging as a trusted global supply chain partner.

The Prime Minister also highlighted cooperation with Sweden in artificial intelligence and digital innovation, partnerships with the United Arab Emirates in supercomputing and strategic energy, and collaborations with Norway and Italy in green transition, maritime infrastructure and sustainable technology.

PM Modi said sectors linked to clean energy, critical minerals, green hydrogen and sustainable manufacturing were expanding rapidly and creating opportunities in the emerging global economy. He added that partnerships in ports, shipping and maritime infrastructure with the UAE and Norway would strengthen India’s shipbuilding ecosystem and create opportunities for engineers, technicians and skilled workers.

Speaking about India’s industrial growth, the Prime Minister said the country was building a complete semiconductor supply chain and that ten major semiconductor units would soon establish India’s presence in the global market. He also highlighted investments worth around Rs 75,000 crore in shipbuilding, ship repair and aviation maintenance ecosystems.

Referring to the Production Linked Incentive scheme, PM Modi said India had emerged as a major electronics manufacturing hub and that the electronics value chain was increasingly being built within the country, generating large-scale employment.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the rapid transformation taking place in rural India due to investments in roads, railways, airports, logistics and digital infrastructure. He said improved connectivity was opening new opportunities for farmers, traders and students, while schemes related to housing, sanitation, electricity and tap water were improving quality of life across villages.

Emphasising entrepreneurship and innovation, PM Modi said India had become the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem with more than 2.3 lakh recognised startups. He noted that youth from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, along with women entrepreneurs supported through schemes such as PM Mudra Yojana and PM SVANidhi, were contributing significantly to the country’s economic growth.

Addressing the new recruits directly, the Prime Minister urged them to view public service as a means of serving the nation and called upon them to strengthen citizens’ trust through empathy, efficiency and continuous learning.

“Viksit Bharat will be built through the efforts of youth who consider their work a means of serving the nation,” he said.
