Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended warm birthday greetings to Union Minister of Power and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar, praising his contributions to key sectors including urban development and energy.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Birthday greetings to Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar Ji. He is at the forefront of numerous initiatives relating to enhancing urban infrastructure and the power sector, both of which are important for our growth trajectory. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also wished Khattar on the occasion. “Heartfelt birthday wishes to Union Cabinet Minister Shri Manohar Lal ji. Under the leadership of Modi ji, you are doing commendable work in the direction of strengthening the housing, urban development, and energy sectors. I pray to God for your excellent health and long life,” said HM Shah.
Khattar was born in 1954 in Nindana village in Haryana’s Rohtak district. He joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a full-time pracharak in 1977 and later transitioned into active politics by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1994.
Khattar’s political breakthrough came in 2014 when he was appointed Chairman of the BJP’s Haryana Election Campaign Committee for the Lok Sabha elections, playing a key role in the party’s success. The same year, he contested his first election from the Karnal Assembly constituency and won decisively. He was subsequently unanimously elected leader of the BJP Legislature Party and sworn in as Chief Minister of Haryana – becoming the first BJP leader and a first-time MLA to hold the post in the state’s history. In 2024, Khattar was elected as a Member of Parliament from Karnal.
