PM Modi congratulates Himanta Biswa Sarma on taking oath as Assam chief minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Himanta Biswa Sarma after he took oath as Assam Chief Minister, praising his leadership and administrative capabilities.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “A great day for Assam! For the third consecutive time, the NDA Government assumes office. Congratulations to Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Ji on taking oath. He has made a mark as a wonderful administrator and has done pioneering work for the state. My best wishes to him for the tenure ahead.”

The Prime Minister also congratulated newly inducted ministers Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro and Ajanta Neog, expressing confidence that they would contribute towards strengthening Assam’s growth trajectory.

Responding to the Prime Minister’s message, Sarma thanked PM Modi for attending the swearing-in ceremony and said his vision and leadership had played a crucial role in Assam’s growth over the past decade.

“Your guidance throughout has been the biggest motivating factor for our Government. It is your leadership and vision which has guided us in our path of sewa and samarpan,” Sarma said.

Calling the moment an emotional one, Sarma said he was honoured to reaffirm his oath as the “Mukhya Sevak” of Assam and pledged to continue working for the welfare and aspirations of the people.

“With the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev and the people of Assam, I took oath as the Chief Minister. Along with the Council of Ministers, we look forward to serving our people and fulfilling their aspirations,” he said.

The Assam Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his support and mentorship, stating that Shah had stood “like a rock” in the efforts to restore peace and prosperity in the state.

Sarma further thanked BJP national president Nitin Nabin and NDA workers across Assam for contributing to the alliance’s electoral success.

He also extended congratulations to his ministerial colleagues and reiterated the government’s commitment to building a “Viksit and Surakshit Assam”.

The swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of the NDA government’s new term in Assam, with the leadership emphasising development, governance and regional progress as key priorities for the coming years.
