Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address party workers at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in the national capital on Monday evening.
BJP National President Nitin Nabin arrived at the party headquarters earlier in the day and was welcomed by a large number of workers and supporters celebrating the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA)’s strong poll performance in Assam, Puducherry and West Bengal.
Earlier, BJP chief spokesperson Anil Baluni posted on X that the Prime Minister would visit the party headquarters at 6 PM.
The Prime Minister’s address comes as the BJP is on track to emerge as the single-largest party in the West Bengal Assembly, crossing the halfway mark of 148 seats.
The evolving political landscape in the state signals a sharp shift, with the BJP having won 48 seats and leading in 156 constituencies. In contrast, the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Mamata Banerjee, has secured 21 seats and is leading in 62 constituencies, taking its tally to 82.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), high-margin victories were recorded in Medinipur, where Sankar Kumar Guchhait secured 1,33,041 votes with a margin of 38,747, and in Asansol Dakshin, where Agnimitra Paul won with 1,19,582 votes and a margin of 40,839.
Earlier in the day, BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Suvendu Adhikari expressed confidence that the party would form the government with more than 180 seats.
Taking a swipe at the TMC’s performance, he remarked, “Rone dijiye. Khatam, poora khatam.” He also claimed consolidation of Hindu votes in favour of the BJP, while acknowledging that the TMC retained influence in districts such as Malda, Murshidabad and North Dinajpur, where the Congress remained competitive.
In Assam, the BJP continues to maintain a strong lead, having won 62 seats and leading in 20 constituencies. This marks the party’s continued dominance in the state under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, with improved performance compared to the 2021 Assembly polls.
In Puducherry, Chief Minister N. Rangaswamy won from the Thattanchavady Assembly seat by a margin of over 4,000 votes, according to ECI trends. The NDA is set to return to power in the Union Territory, with the alliance winning 9 out of 11 seats in the 30-member Assembly.
In Kerala, the BJP has won three Assembly constituencies—Nemom, Kazhakoottam and Chathannoor—according to ECI data. (ANI)
