Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch his newly authored book Apnapan in New Delhi on May 26, offering a personal account of his long public association with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the values that shaped their political journey.
The book release event will be held at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium at the NASC Complex in Pusa.
Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu will formally release the book in the presence of former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda. Several Union Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers, social leaders, writers and senior journalists are expected to attend the event.
According to the Rural Development Ministry, Apnapan is a deeply personal and reflective work that chronicles Chouhan’s experiences, observations and learnings from more than three decades of political and organisational association with PM Modi.
The book traces their journey from their early days as workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to serving as Chief Ministers of their respective states and later working together in the Union government.
More than a memoir, the book explores themes of leadership, public service and nation-building. It highlights principles such as “Seva”, “Antyodaya”, “Jan Bhagidari”, “Nation First” and “Lok Kalyan”, which Chouhan describes as central to governance and public life.
The narrative also examines various dimensions of PM Modi’s leadership, policy initiatives and the philosophy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas”, while showcasing how determination, organisational discipline and public connect can transform ambitious goals into reality.
The Ministry said the book is expected to resonate with political workers, youth, women, entrepreneurs and readers interested in governance and public leadership.
Born in Jait village in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district in 1959, Chouhan joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at the age of 15 and later became active in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). Over the years, he held several important organisational positions within the BJP and its youth wing.
Chouhan began his electoral career in 1990 as an MLA from Budhni and was elected to the Lok Sabha from Vidisha in 1991. He later became the longest-serving Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, serving four terms between 2005 and 2023.
He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from Vidisha in 2024 and currently serves in the Union Cabinet.
