AI, innovation and technology define the future of India-France relations

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a key frontier of India-France cooperation, with both nations seeking to shape the future of emerging technologies through collaboration rather than competition.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), President Emmanuel Macron’s participation in the India AI Impact Summit 2026 highlighted the strategic importance attached to technology cooperation by both governments.

The launch of the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 reflects a shared commitment to strengthening research, innovation ecosystems, startup partnerships and technological development.

Areas receiving particular attention include artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum computing, cybersecurity, critical minerals and advanced manufacturing.

French and Indian startups are increasingly collaborating through dedicated innovation platforms, while academic institutions and research organisations are building long-term partnerships in frontier technologies.

Both countries also see technology cooperation as essential to reducing vulnerabilities in global supply chains and enhancing economic resilience.

As nations worldwide race to secure technological leadership, India and France are positioning themselves as trusted partners capable of creating ethical, secure and inclusive technological ecosystems.
