Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, will launch NAFED’s digital auction portal, NAFEX.in, in New Delhi on Tuesday as part of the government’s push to strengthen transparency, efficiency and technology-driven reforms in the cooperative sector.
The launch event will be held at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan and will be attended by Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, NAFED Chairman Jethabhai Ahir, Managing Director Deepak Agarwal and other senior officials.
Along with NAFEX.in, Shah will also unveil several farmer-centric initiatives, including the NAFED-KALYAN scholarship scheme for children of farmers, the DRISHTI portal for inventory management of pulses and oilseeds, and an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) portal aimed at improving organisational efficiency. A live demonstration of registration and auction processes on the NAFEX.in platform will also be conducted during the programme.
According to the Ministry of Cooperation, NAFEX.in is expected to streamline auction-related activities by providing a transparent and digital platform for agricultural produce auctions. The portal is designed to improve operational efficiency and enhance services for farmers, member institutions and other stakeholders associated with NAFED.
As part of the event, Shah will distribute scholarship cheques under the NAFED-KALYAN scheme to children of farmers. The initiative is aimed at supporting educational opportunities for farming families and reflects NAFED’s broader focus on farmer welfare.
Following the launch programme, the Union Minister will hold a meeting with members of NAFED’s Board of Directors. NAFED officials are expected to present a report on the organisation’s activities, progress on directives issued during Shah’s previous visit, and its future roadmap.
NAFED plays a key role in agricultural procurement, marketing and cooperative-based trade across the country. The launch of these digital and welfare initiatives aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” and the government’s efforts to strengthen cooperative institutions through technology, transparency and farmer-focused reforms.
