Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday said that the growing partnership between India and France is creating fresh opportunities for co-innovation and technological advancement as India moves towards its vision of becoming a developed nation under Viksit Bharat.
Wrapping up a day of engagements in Nice, Goyal hosted a dinner attended by government representatives, business leaders, investors and members of the innovation ecosystem, in the presence of the Mayor of Nice, Eric Ciotti.
The minister said the gathering, held during the India-France Year of Innovation, provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and explore collaboration across trade, technology and emerging sectors.
“Against the backdrop of the India-France Year of Innovation, the evening provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and explore new avenues for collaboration across trade, technology, and emerging sectors,” Goyal said in a post on X.
According to the government, India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and France’s France 2030 strategy offer strong areas of convergence for building a future-focused innovation partnership. The collaboration is expected to generate new investment opportunities in disruptive technologies and innovation-driven sectors.
To strengthen cooperation, the two countries have adopted the India-France Innovation Roadmap 2030, which will serve as a framework for advancing collaboration in critical and emerging technologies, strengthening trusted technology ecosystems, expanding academic and research exchanges, and delivering outcomes that benefit people, the environment and economic growth.
The government said both nations view innovation as a key driver of economic resilience, sustainable development, strategic autonomy and technological sovereignty. A stronger innovation partnership is expected to help unlock the full potential of both countries while contributing to solutions for global challenges.
The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit to Nice resulted in several bilateral outcomes, particularly in innovation and future technologies.
During his stay in France, PM Modi held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, focusing on expanding cooperation in defence, technology, space, security, counter-terrorism and innovation.
