India have named leg-spinner Prema Rawat as a replacement for injured Shreyanka Patil in their squad for the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 after the off-spinner was ruled out with an ankle injury.
Patil, 23, sustained the injury while fielding during India’s match against the Netherlands on Wednesday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Event Technical Committee had approved Rawat’s inclusion for the remainder of the tournament.
Rawat, who has represented India A, claimed eight wickets in five matches during India’s title-winning campaign in the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. She was also the joint-leading wicket-taker on India A’s tour of Australia last year, taking seven wickets in three matches.
India’s squad is led by Harmanpreet Kaur, with Smriti Mandhana serving as vice-captain.
Following Rawat’s promotion to the senior side, the Women’s Selection Committee has also made changes to the India A squads for the upcoming tour of England. Niki Prasad has been added to the India A T20 squad, while Minnu Mani has been included in the One-Day squad.
