INS Ikshak Arrives in Seychelles to Strengthen Maritime Cooperation

Indian Navy’s indigenously built Survey Vessel Large (SVL), INS Ikshak, arrived at Port Victoria in Seychelles on June 26 as part of its operational deployment to the South-West Indian Ocean Region.

The visit coincides with the 50th National Day celebrations of Seychelles and underscores the longstanding maritime partnership and close bilateral ties between India and the island nation.

During the port call, INS Ikshak will participate in the National Day celebrations and engage with the Seychelles Defence Forces through a series of professional interactions aimed at enhancing maritime cooperation and interoperability.

As part of its outreach activities, the ship’s crew will organise medical camps and distribute essential supplies, reinforcing goodwill and strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The Indian Navy has also opened INS Ikshak to visitors during the port call, providing an opportunity to showcase the vessel’s capabilities and India’s commitment to promoting maritime security, safety and cooperation in the region.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the deployment of INS Ikshak reaffirms India’s commitment to strengthening maritime partnerships with friendly nations and advancing peace, security and stability in the Indian Ocean Region.

The deployment is aligned with India’s MAHASAGAR vision—Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions—which seeks to enhance regional cooperation and foster collective growth across the Indian Ocean.
