As part of extensive security preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2026, Jammu and Kashmir Police have stepped up anti-sabotage operations across the Anantnag district to ensure a safe, secure, and incident-free pilgrimage.
According to J&K Police, specialized teams of Anantnag Police are conducting comprehensive anti-sabotage checks and area domination exercises along the entire Yatra route from Khanabal to Pahalgam. The operations cover critical locations, transit points, lodgement centres, parking areas, and other vulnerable spots along the pilgrimage corridor.
The security checks are being carried out using advanced surveillance equipment and modern detection devices to identify and neutralize any potential threats. The operations are supported by highly trained K9 squads, bomb detection teams, and technical surveillance units, which are thoroughly sanitizing the Yatra route and adjoining areas.
Special emphasis is being placed on the inspection of vehicles, including abandoned and unattended vehicles, to prevent their misuse by anti-national elements. Security personnel are also conducting regular searches and surveillance operations across sensitive locations.
In addition, enhanced security checks are being carried out at railway stations, railway tracks, bridges, culverts, public utility installations, and other critical infrastructure within the district. Regular sanitization drives are being undertaken to maintain a robust security environment ahead of the annual pilgrimage.
J&K Police said that personnel are working round the clock to ensure the effective implementation of all security protocols. Authorities are continuously reviewing and strengthening preparedness measures to address any emerging challenges.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity, unattended object, or abandoned vehicle to the nearest police station or security establishment.
Reaffirming its commitment to the safety of pilgrims, J&K Police said all necessary measures are being taken to ensure a peaceful, secure, and spiritually fulfilling Amarnath Yatra for devotees from across the country.
