National Institute of Sowa Rigpa holds yoga session under Mission LiFE ahead of World Environment Day

The National Institute of Sowa Rigpa (NISR) organised a Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session on Wednesday as part of the pre-campaign activities leading up to World Environment Day 2026, promoting sustainable lifestyles and environmental awareness under the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) initiative.

Held at the institute’s campus in Sabu Thang, the programme was themed “Linking Yoga Practice to Mindful and Low-Consumption Living” and witnessed participation from faculty members, staff and students.

The session focused on encouraging environmentally responsible behaviour and holistic well-being through the practice of yoga. Participants performed various yoga asanas and pranayama exercises under the guidance of yoga instructor Gopal Sharma.

Organisers highlighted the role of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and mindful living, while reinforcing the principles of Mission LiFE, a national initiative aimed at encouraging sustainable lifestyles.

The event also underscored the connection between individual well-being and environmental sustainability. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to adopting healthier, eco-friendly and responsible lifestyle practices.

The yoga session was part of a series of awareness programmes being organised by the institute ahead of World Environment Day 2026 to encourage greater public engagement with environmental conservation and sustainable living.
