Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday underscored the need for inclusive and sustainable economic growth at the G7 Outreach Session in Evian, saying that the real measure of growth lies in who benefits from it and how widely its gains are shared. Addressing world leaders, PM Modi said India’s development journey has demonstrated that shared prosperity can be transformed from an aspiration into reality, adding that when India progresses, one-sixth of humanity advances with it.
Highlighting India’s philosophy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas,” PM Modi said the country’s growth story is rooted in inclusion, scale and democratic empowerment. He also reiterated the vision behind the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), describing it as a strategic initiative that will strengthen trade, supply chains, investment and innovation across regions. Calling for similar projects in Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands, he proposed the International Mobilisation Partnership for Accelerating Connectivity and Trade (IMPACT) to create corridors connecting trade, technology, energy and opportunities.
Referring to disruptions in fuel, fertiliser and food supply chains caused by the West Asia crisis, the PM said vulnerable nations of the Global South should not be left to bear the burden alone. He urged international financial institutions to develop mechanisms that help developing countries withstand such shocks and maintain economic resilience.
The Prime Minister also proposed a Global Skills Partnership to leverage the complementarity between ageing developed economies and the young, skilled workforce of India and other developing countries. The framework, he said, could focus on skill mapping and trusted mobility of skilled professionals.
Emphasising India’s commitment to global prosperity, PM Modi noted that India has concluded trade agreements with most countries represented at the meeting. “India believes not in fragmentation, but in integration; not in protectionism, but in partnership; and not in uncertainty, but in shared prosperity,” he said, adding that India would continue working with global partners to build a stable, reliable and prosperous world economy.
