PM Modi said he will undertake a visit to France and the Slovak Republic from June 13 to 18 at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, expressing confidence that the tour will strengthen India’s engagement with Europe and the G7.
In his departure statement, The Prime Minister said France occupies a special place in India’s strategic vision and noted that during President Macron’s visit to India earlier this year, the two countries elevated their ties to a Special Global Strategic Partnership. He said he looks forward to meeting President Macron in Nice to review progress made since February, chart the next steps in bilateral cooperation and discuss pressing global issues of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister Modi said he also eagerly looks forward to jointly inaugurating Bharat Innovates with President Macron on June 14. Describing it as a landmark event being held during the India-France Year of Innovation, he said it will connect India’s most promising start-ups with global investment and accelerate innovations emerging from the country’s higher education ecosystem.
PM Modi said he will travel to the Slovak Republic for a State Visit on June 14-15, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister since Slovakia’s independence in 1993. Calling it a historic visit, he said it builds on the strong momentum in bilateral relations. He said he looks forward to discussions with President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava and to interacting with Slovak business leaders. The visit, he added, will further energise India’s Strategic Partnership with the European Union, of which Slovakia is an important and valued member.
From Slovakia, PM Modi will travel to Evian to participate in the G7 Summit on June 16 and 17. He said India’s presence at the G7 reflects the trust placed in the country by its partners and its growing global profile. Noting that this is the eighth consecutive G7 Summit to which India has been invited, PM Modi said India will not only speak for itself at the gathering but will also give voice to the aspirations of the Global South.
The Prime Minister said he will conclude his visit in Paris on June 18, where he will attend VivaTech 2026 alongside President Macron. Describing VivaTech as Europe’s foremost gathering of technology and innovation, he noted that India will have the largest national pavilion at the event, reflecting the vast potential for collaboration between Indian and European innovation ecosystems. He also said he looks forward to meeting members of the Indian community in Paris, whom he described as a living bridge between the two nations.
PM Modi said he is confident that his visits to France and the Slovak Republic will reinforce India’s deepening engagement with both Europe and the G7 while showcasing the country’s commitment to expanding its partnerships across the continent and beyond.
