Prime Minister Narendra Modi will disburse incentives worth around ₹2,400 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) at a special programme to be held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Friday.
The disbursal marks a major milestone in the implementation of the Centre’s flagship employment-linked incentive scheme, which aims to accelerate job creation, promote formalisation of employment, enhance employability and expand social security coverage across sectors.
According to the government, the scheme has facilitated employment for around 15 lakh beneficiaries across the country. PM-VBRY is designed to encourage both workers and employers to participate in the formal economy.
Under the scheme, first-time employees are eligible for an incentive of up to ₹15,000, providing financial support as they enter the workforce. Employers generating additional jobs can receive incentives of up to ₹3,000 per month for each additional employee, encouraging sustained employment generation.
Recognising the importance of manufacturing in driving economic growth, the scheme provides incentives to employers in the manufacturing sector for four years, while employers in other sectors are eligible for incentives for two years.
The government said the initiative reflects its commitment to fostering employment-led growth and ensuring that the benefits of economic progress translate into quality formal employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.
PM-VBRY came into effect on August 1, 2025, with a total outlay of ₹99,446 crore. The scheme aims to incentivise the creation of more than 3.5 crore jobs over a two-year period, including nearly 1.92 crore first-time entrants into the workforce.
