PM Modi to visit Seychelles as Guest of Honour for National Day Golden Jubilee celebrations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a State Visit to Seychelles from June 27 to 29 at the invitation of Seychelles President Dr. Patrick Herminie. During the visit, the Prime Minister will attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Seychelles’ National Day as the Guest of Honour.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this will be Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to the island nation since 2015. As part of the celebrations, a contingent of the Indian defence forces along with two Indian Navy ships will participate in the commemorative events, underscoring the close ties between the two countries.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Herminie to review the entire spectrum of India-Seychelles cooperation and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. He is also scheduled to address the National Assembly of Seychelles and interact with members of the Indian diaspora.

India and Seychelles share a longstanding partnership founded on historical, cultural and people-to-people connections. As a key maritime neighbour in the Indian Ocean Region, Seychelles occupies an important place in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions) and New Delhi’s broader commitment to the Global South.

The visit is expected to further strengthen the enduring friendship between the two nations and reaffirm their shared commitment to expanding cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
