Prime Minister Narendra Modi's | longest-serving elected Prime Minister | PM Modi's record tenure

PM Modi’s record tenure draws praise in US

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s milestone of becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister has drawn congratulations from American lawmakers, business leaders and prominent members of the Indian diaspora, who credited his leadership with strengthening India’s global profile and deepening India-US ties.

US Senator John Cornyn led the tributes, congratulating Modi on completing 4,399 days in office.

“Congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister — 4,399 days of leadership earned through the trust of 1.4 billion people across three democratic mandates,” Cornyn said in a post on social media.

He added that Modi’s tenure had been “transformational,” citing India’s economic growth and poverty reduction efforts.

Arun Agarwal, Co-founder of the Indian American CEO Council and Chair of the Texas Economic Development Corporation, said the occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on India’s transformation over the past 12 years.

In a commentary marking the milestone, Agarwal said India had emerged as a more influential global player since 2014.

“The India of 2026 is not the India of 2014,” he wrote, adding that the country today “stands taller, speaks louder, and commands greater attention on the global stage” than it did a decade ago.

According to Agarwal, India is increasingly viewed as a nation delivering on its potential rather than merely possessing it. He said the past 12 years would likely be remembered as a period that accelerated India’s rise and reshaped global perceptions of the country’s capabilities.

Nikesh Arora, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Palo Alto Networks, also congratulated Modi on the achievement.

In a social media post, Arora said Modi’s tenure had been marked by significant economic progress and expressed optimism about the continued growth of the India-US partnership.

American singer and India supporter Mary Millben described the occasion as “a historic, democratic milestone” for India and congratulated Modi on becoming the country’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister.

Praising his leadership, Millben said Modi’s commitment to India’s progress, unity and development had helped shape a transformative period in the country’s history.

She also commended his role in advancing relations between New Delhi and Washington, saying he had consistently pursued diplomacy while safeguarding India’s interests and strengthening bilateral ties.

Calling the milestone an inspiration for future generations, Millben said Modi’s tenure had encouraged Indians to “dream bigger, strive harder, and contribute to the glory of the motherland.”

Prime Minister Modi became India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister on Wednesday after completing 4,399 days in office, surpassing the record held by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
