Prime Minister Modi condoles demise of constitutional scholar Dr. Subhash C. Kashyap

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed grief over the passing of noted constitutional scholar and former Lok Sabha Secretary-General Dr. Subhash C. Kashyap.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister described Dr. Kashyap as one of India’s foremost constitutional scholars whose contributions to parliamentary and constitutional discourse enriched the nation.

PM Modi said Dr. Kashyap’s writings and his commitment to strengthening democratic institutions earned him widespread respect. He noted that Dr. Kashyap played a key role in deepening public understanding of constitutional and parliamentary processes through his scholarly work and public engagement.

Expressing his condolences, the Prime Minister conveyed sympathies to the bereaved family and friends of Dr. Kashyap.

“Pained by the passing of Dr. Subhash C. Kashyap, who previously served as Secretary General of the Lok Sabha. He was one of India’s foremost constitutional scholars whose contributions to parliamentary and constitutional discourse enriched our society. His writings and commitment to strengthening democratic institutions were noteworthy. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti,” the Prime Minister said in his post.

Dr. Kashyap was widely regarded as an authority on the Indian Constitution and parliamentary affairs. Over the years, he authored several books and articles on constitutional law, governance and parliamentary democracy, contributing significantly to public discourse on democratic institutions.
