‘Proud’ of Indian diaspora’s efforts in bringing India-France ties closer: PM Modi in Paris

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Paris on Thursday for the final leg of his France visit after concluding a series of engagements at the G7 Summit in Evian, where he received a warm welcome from members of the Indian diaspora.

Expressing appreciation for the Indian community’s contribution to bilateral relations, PM Modi said he was proud of their efforts in bringing India and France closer together and emphasized the growing importance of the strategic partnership between the two nations.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Reached Paris a short while ago to a warm welcome by the Indian diaspora. I am proud of their efforts in bringing India and France closer. The India-France partnership is vital for the progress of our planet.”

The Prime Minister’s arrival in Paris follows a busy schedule at the G7 Summit in Evian, where he participated in discussions on major global challenges and held a series of bilateral meetings with world leaders.

Reflecting on his engagements at the summit, PM Modi described the discussions as productive and said they provided an important platform to present India’s perspectives on governance, policymaking and global development.

He noted that India highlighted its efforts in several key areas and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation with countries of the Global South to ensure inclusive and sustainable global prosperity.

“I had a series of productive meetings and exchanges during the G7 Summit in Évian. I had the opportunity to present India’s positions and efforts on key areas of governance and policymaking. I also emphasized the need to work closely with the Global South for global prosperity,” the Prime Minister said.

India has increasingly positioned itself as a leading voice of the Global South, advocating for inclusive economic growth, equitable access to technology, climate justice and reforms in global governance institutions. PM Modi’s interventions at the G7 Summit are viewed as part of India’s broader diplomatic outreach aimed at ensuring that the concerns and aspirations of developing nations receive greater attention on international platforms.

During his Paris visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to participate in VivaTech 2026, one of Europe’s largest technology and innovation events. His address at the summit is expected to showcase India’s rapidly growing digital economy, thriving startup ecosystem and advancements in emerging technologies.

France remains one of India’s closest strategic partners in Europe, with both countries sharing strong cooperation on regional and global issues. Recent years have witnessed growing collaboration in areas such as defence manufacturing, maritime security, renewable energy, artificial intelligence and innovation.
