Shivraj Singh Chouhan offers prayers as PM Modi becomes longest-serving elected PM, hails 12 years of development

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, saying his 12-year tenure has been marked by significant development and welfare initiatives aimed at improving the lives of millions of people.

After offering prayers at the Prachin Hanuman Mandir in Delhi, Chouhan said he prayed for the Prime Minister’s good health, long life and continued leadership.

“We visited the temple and prayed for his good health, longevity and continued leadership so that he can keep working tirelessly for the nation,” Chouhan told reporters.

Describing the milestone as a reflection of PM Modi’s commitment to public service and national development, Chouhan said the Prime Minister’s tenure had witnessed major transformations across sectors.

“PM Narendra Modi holds the record for the longest continuous tenure as Prime Minister, and these twelve years have been remarkable in terms of development. During this period, he has worked tirelessly for the country,” he said.

The Union Minister credited the Modi government with accelerating infrastructure development, citing improvements in roads, railways, airports and other key sectors.

“The infrastructure development witnessed over these twelve years was beyond imagination,” Chouhan said.

He also highlighted the government’s welfare programmes, saying several initiatives had been launched to benefit women, youth, farmers and economically weaker sections.

“He has formulated and implemented numerous schemes for the welfare of the common man, focusing on women’s empowerment, the youth, farmers and the poor,” Chouhan said.

According to the minister, these initiatives have improved living standards, expanded opportunities for citizens and enhanced India’s standing globally.

Chouhan further described Modi as a leader with a long-term vision and strong implementation capabilities.

“He is a man of ideas and knows how to implement them effectively for the welfare of the country,” he said.

Praising the government’s national security policies, Chouhan said the Prime Minister had adopted a firm approach against terrorism and Naxalism while remaining committed to citizens’ welfare.

Referring to India’s response during the COVID-19 pandemic, he said PM Modi’s belief in the principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (the world is one family) was reflected in India’s efforts to supply vaccines to more than 100 countries.

Chouhan concluded by describing PM Modi’s leadership as a significant asset for the country.

Prime Minister Modi became India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister on Wednesday after completing 4,399 days in office, surpassing the record held by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
