Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, will visit Kerala on June 23 to participate in a series of initiatives aimed at promoting fitness, sports excellence and mass participation in sporting activities.
As part of his visit, the minister will take part in the ‘Cycling by the Sea’ event from Chackai ITI to Shankumugham Beach in Thiruvananthapuram. The cycling programme has been organised to further Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement and encourage people to adopt active and healthy lifestyles through cycling and other fitness activities.
Mandaviya will also visit the G.V. Raja Sports School in Mylom, a prominent sports institution known for producing several athletes who have represented India at various levels. The visit underscores the government’s focus on strengthening grassroots sports development and nurturing young talent across the country.
Later in the day, the Sports Minister will attend the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Fun Run at the Kerala University Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The event, being organised as part of the outreach activities leading up to the 2026 Asian Games, coincides with International Olympic Day celebrations.
More than 40,000 participants, including students, athletes, youth volunteers and members of the public, are expected to take part in the Fun Run. The event aims to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, promote public participation in sports and strengthen engagement with the Asian Games movement while showcasing Kerala’s rich sporting culture.
