UP CM Yogi Orders Statewide Fire Safety Inspections After Delhi Hotel Fire Tragedy

Taking note of the recent hotel fire in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar that claimed 21 lives, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday directed authorities to conduct special fire safety inspections of hotels and commercial establishments across the state.

The Chief Minister instructed officials from development authorities, police departments, the Public Works Department (PWD), fire services and other concerned agencies to carry out thorough inspections of high-rise buildings, offices, hotels and commercial establishments. He also directed officials to ensure that all required fire safety systems are in place and functioning properly.

As part of the exercise, all hotels have been asked to undergo special safety inspections and submit audit reports.

Commenting on the directive, Chief Fire Officer Ankush Mittal said special teams have been deployed to inspect hotels across various districts and warned of strict action against establishments found violating fire safety norms.

“On the Chief Minister’s directions, inspection drives are being conducted in hotels and other establishments. Officials at all fire stations are inspecting hotels within their respective jurisdictions. If any negligence is found, legal action will be taken,” Mittal told ANI.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna expressed grief over the Delhi incident and said fresh instructions would be issued to district magistrates and other local authorities to ensure strict compliance with safety regulations.

“The incident that occurred in Delhi is extremely tragic. Instructions are issued from time to time, and today we will once again direct district magistrates and other concerned officials to pay special attention to this matter,” Khanna told reporters.
