Prasar Bharati’s streaming platform WAVES OTT has crossed one crore registered users less than two years after its launch, marking a major milestone for India’s public-service digital media ecosystem.
The platform, launched in November 2024, now offers more than 24,000 titles and over 15,000 hours of content spanning entertainment, news, education, culture, spirituality and public-service programming. It also streams over 140 live TV channels and more than 200 radio services.
WAVES OTT is currently available in over 130 countries across mobile, web and connected TV devices, offering free access to content in multiple Indian languages. The platform also hosts PM eVidya educational channels, digital editions of Yojana, Kurukshetra and Rozgar Samachar, devotional streams and a vast archive of Prasar Bharati content.
Prasar Bharati said the milestone reflects the growing demand for trusted and inclusive digital content and validates its vision of creating a one-stop destination for television, radio, education, culture and on-demand programming.
The platform has recorded steady growth through the expansion of its content library, digital partnerships, wider device availability and improvements in user experience. Recent additions, including devotional live streams, educational content, digital publications, archival collections and live event coverage, have further boosted audience engagement.
With over one crore registered users and 1.4 crore downloads, WAVES OTT is now targeting two crore users by March 2027 through expanded content partnerships, wider device availability and a stronger focus on regional and educational programming.
