Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday said the state’s vision of becoming a developed Tripura would be driven by the creation of modern cities and villages, with greater emphasis on digital governance to ensure faster delivery of public services.
Speaking after inaugurating several public welfare projects of the Agartala Municipal Corporation at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala, Saha said digital services would be expanded across all municipal areas of the state, with public welfare remaining the government’s primary objective.
“We need goodwill for work. Because of this goodwill of the present government, new development projects are being implemented in every part of the state, including Agartala city. Government employees, officials and public representatives must work together to implement every development project under the Agartala Smart City Mission and other state initiatives in a transparent and timely manner,” he said.
The Chief Minister said the state government was committed to development-oriented governance, adding that affordable living and improved quality of life could be achieved through sustained infrastructure and public welfare initiatives.
“Instead of being complacent, everyone should work together to implement development projects in a beautiful and transparent manner. Public representatives must earn the trust and confidence of the people by working for their welfare,” Saha said.
He said Agartala was emerging as a modern city in the Northeast, with the government focusing on urban development while preserving its cultural and historical heritage.
“The success of development can be measured only when citizens themselves experience improvements in their daily lives and acknowledge the positive changes,” he added.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Saha also appealed to clubs, social organisations and citizens to work collectively towards keeping Agartala clean, healthy and drug-free.
During the programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Sabuj Sena initiative, the Chandinamura Waste Transfer Centre, the Amar Agartala mobile application and 51 mini vehicles for municipal services. He also handed over a state-of-the-art smoke cannon for mosquito control to the Agartala Municipal Corporation.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, Urban Development Department Director Tamal Majumdar and Municipal Commissioner Saju Bahid A were present at the event.
