India finished with an impressive haul of five gold, 10 silver and four bronze medals in the women’s section of the Asian U-19 & U-23 Boxing Championships after the finals concluded in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The Indian contingent enjoyed a dominant campaign across both age groups, underlining the country’s growing strength in age-group boxing.

In the U-19 women’s competition, India claimed two gold and six silver medals.

Chandrika Bhoresh Pujari (51kg) won gold with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan’s Nazokat Mardonova, while Prachi also topped the podium after defeating Indonesia’s Dira Artika in the final.

India’s remaining finalists in the U-19 category settled for silver after falling short in their title bouts.

The U-23 women also impressed, returning with three gold, four silver and four bronze medals.

Nisha (54kg) clinched gold after outclassing Japan’s Koiin Kokufu 5-0 in the final.

Nikita Chand (60kg), Kajal (65kg) and Muskan (75kg) finished with silver medals after losing their respective finals to Uzbek opponents.

India’s four bronze medals in the U-23 competition came through semifinal finishes, completing a strong overall campaign.

The results underline India’s continued rise in women’s age-group boxing, with the team reaching multiple finals across weight categories and producing another medal-laden performance on the continental stage.
