Jharkhand on Tuesday showcased six Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged handloom products at Bharat Tex 2026, with Industries Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav inaugurating the state’s pavilion at Bharat Mandapam to promote its textile heritage and traditional craftsmanship among domestic and international buyers.
The pavilion features Tassar Silk, Kuchai Silk, Bhagaiya Saree and Fabric, Tumka Chadar, Bhoya Saree and Fabric, and Pancho Saree and Fabric, highlighting Jharkhand’s rich weaving traditions and cultural heritage.
Speaking at the inauguration, Yadav said the state aims to expand the reach of its handloom products beyond domestic markets and create greater livelihood opportunities for local artisans and weavers.
“Our identity should extend beyond the boundaries of our state and reach national as well as global markets. By showcasing Jharkhand’s rich handloom and textile heritage on international platforms, we aim to create greater employment opportunities within the state so that our youth do not have to migrate in search of livelihoods. More employment will accelerate the economic growth and overall development of Jharkhand,” he said.
The minister said Bharat Tex 2026 offers an important platform to connect Jharkhand’s traditional textile products with national and international markets, generate new business opportunities for weavers and artisans, and integrate the state’s textile sector into the global value chain.
According to an official release, Bharat Tex 2026 has emerged as a leading global platform for business, investment, innovation, policy dialogue and strategic partnerships across the textile and apparel value chain. The event showcases India’s growing role in textiles, fashion, sustainability, technological innovation, investment and international trade.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Director of the Department of Industries Vishal Sagar, Additional Secretary Preeti and other senior officials.
Bharat Tex 2026 has brought together manufacturers, exporters, global buyers, investors, policymakers, international delegations, start-ups, technology providers and artisans from India and abroad, making it one of the world’s largest gatherings for the textile industry.
